Chaise Armstrong
Emergent Language Teacher
Ms. Chaise graduated in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Student Education. She is certified in ESE (K–12) and holds endorsements in Reading, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Before joining The Chase Academy in 2024, Ms. Chaise taught in public schools for three and a half years, where she served students in a Multi-Varying Exceptionalities (Multi-VE) setting. She brings a passion for individualized instruction, inclusive practices, and helping every student grow to their fullest potential.

Kristan Barnes
Paraprofessional & Transition Program Mentor
Ms. Kristan is one of our esteemed alumni! She graduated in 2022 as the Valedictorian and immediately began working on her degree at Daytona State College. She has since earned her Associate’s degree and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in Exceptional Student Education (ESE), K–12. Ms. Kristan has achieved seven President’s List honors at DSC. She now works as a paraprofessional in our K/1 room and serves as a mentor for graduates in the Transition program, providing organizational and academic support to ensure each graduate’s introduction to college courses is successful. Her long-term goal is to become our Upper-Level Language Arts teacher.

Teri Baugh
Elementary Teacher
This is Ms. Teri’s third school year with us. She graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1993 with her bachelor’s degree. Before joining our team, she worked for the Volusia County School Board for over 18 years, focusing primarily on 3rd and 4th grades, after earning her Elementary K–6 Educator Certification.

Christy D'Aliso
Dean of Students, Financial Liaison, Life Skills & PE Teacher
Ms. Christy has been with us since 2017. She earned her B.A. from the State University of New York at New Paltz and is currently pursuing her M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Manhattanville College. She is certified in Physical Education (K–12) and Exceptional Education (K–12), and she is also a Registered Behavior Technician. Before joining us, she spent over 20 years teaching elementary and middle school grades in Volusia County Schools.

Amy Filson
Principal, Director of Programming, Upper Level Teacher
Ms. Amy is one of our three co-founders and has been friends with Ms. Mimi since the late 1990s. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s degree from Stetson University. A Volusia County native, she is the daughter of a public school teacher and a Title I program director, and she spent much of her childhood attending training workshops. Ms. Amy has experience working in both public and private schools, as well as at the college level. Among her accolades, she once earned the highest county scores on the FCAT in math and science, which led to her appointment as Science Program Director for her school that same year. During her time with Volusia County Schools, she was also chosen as the featured educator in several instructional teaching videos, which are now presented nationally as Volusia County’s instructional model. She is the creator of our CHASE model, which emphasizes short bursts of skill development, exploratory and investigative activities, and reinforcement through engaging play. In addition, Ms. Amy holds her Instructional Certification in CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, allowing her to train our staff not only in best educational practices but also in conflict resolution and crisis management.

Stephanie Harrington
Elementary Teacher
Ms. Stephanie has been with us since 2022. She holds a Florida educator certification for ages 3 through Grade 3 and earned her bachelor's degree from the University of North Florida. She also completed the teacher preparation program at St. Johns River State College and plans to attend Daytona State College to finish her reading endorsement this year. Before joining us, she worked for several years as a child welfare licensing counselor.

Karen Jackson
Student Services Director
Ms. Karen is Ms. Mimi’s daughter and Chase’s older sister. She has been with us since 2016, working her way up from a teacher’s assistant to her current role as Student Services Director. She earned her A.A. from Daytona State in 2015 and has since returned to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Production. In addition to assisting the administrative team with various tasks, she also books our field trips, conducts tours for prospective students and parents, and manages student files and records. ​

Devon Johnson
Vocational Rehab
Mr. Devon joined us in the winter of 2024. He works with our Upper-Level students by facilitating the Work Readiness Training Program. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Aspen University, as well as an Associate’s degree in American Sign Language Interpreting from Valencia College.

Elizabeth LeDuc
Elementary Teacher
Ms. Elizabeth started with us in 2024 and quickly won the hearts of her students! She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. She is certified in Elementary Education for Grades 1–6. Before joining us, she spent nearly 30 years teaching in public, charter, and private schools across Seminole, Orange, and Volusia counties.

Mimi Lundell
Executive Director, Upper Level Teacher
Ms. Mimi is one of our three co-founders and has been with The Chase Academy since its official founding in 2006 and the opening of its first campus in 2009. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and is certified in ESE and K–12, with an Autism Spectrum Disorders endorsement from Florida State University. Before opening the first campus, she taught various grades and subjects for Volusia County Schools for fifteen years.

Bernie Martin
Upper Level Teacher
Mr. Bernie has been with us for around 10 years or so! He started out teaching one science class to our Seniors, and has worked his way up to being a full-time teacher for us for several years now. He earned his bachelor's from the University of Central Florida in 2001 in General Science with an emphasis in Biology and a minor in Health Science. He also is a big animal and nature lover, and enjoys camping and hiking with his dog, Teddy.

Aliso Milo
Paraprofessional
Ms. Alisa has been with us since the 2017–2018 school year. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from Capella University. Before joining our team, she worked in both public and private schools in Volusia County. Earlier in her career, she also practiced as an audiologist in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Kay Nielsen
Art Teacher
Ms. Kay has taught Art with us for seven years. She previously taught Art for over 25 years in elementary and middle schools and spent 20 years teaching in assisted living facilities and skilled nursing rehabs for elders. She also loves teaching our teens life skills such as cooking and sewing. She holds two degrees from Daytona State College, which she earned in 1983. Ms. Kay’s mission is to teach children a wide variety of art skills and to encourage them to take the bold step of using their own creativity. Her motto is, “Art makes you smart!”

Brianna Richards
Life Skills Teacher
Ms. Bri is a dedicated educator in her first year of teaching and her second year at The Chase Academy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special and Elementary Education. Before becoming a teacher, she spent three and a half years as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). Passionate about making a difference, Ms. Bri is committed to providing her students with the tools they need to succeed both academically and socially.

Tracey Conrey
Clinical Director of Chase Therapies
Ms. Tracey has worked with our sister company, Chase Therapies, since 2024. She holds a Master’s degree from Capella University and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2007. She has extensive experience working with children with disabilities and enjoys supporting our students.
