In recognition of World Autism Awareness Month, The Chase Academy is asking the businesses and residents of Volusia County to become a Super Hero by participating in our C.A.P.E. Crusaders 2nd Annual Virtual 5K Run & Walk.  Proceeds will benefit our C.A.P.E. Crusaders monthly donor program which facilitates The Chase Academy's Programs for Enrichment (C.A.P.E.). This program provides the funding required to enhance the learning experience for our students beyond the academics that are covered by tuition, both inside & outside of the classroom, through technology (Smartboards in classrooms, Ipads for elementary learning), cultural activities (ballet, music & theatrical performances, museum exhibits) & other enrichment activities (weekly music therapy, school garden, outdoor playground and Life Skills classes such as cooking) at no additional cost to our students' families.

Due to the global pandemic, we have had to reschedule our 5K not once, but twice! Thus, we have pivoted and created a VIRTUAL event which creates a lot of opportunities for fun!

Everyone can continue to register for our C.A.P.E. Crusaders 2nd Annual VIRTUAL 5K Run & Walk by clicking on the REGISTER HERE button above.

REMEMBER, participants will receive an Event T-Shirt, Event Medal, Cape & Mask. Participants who do not register by 10/3 are not guaranteed these gifts.

How long is the course?

5K is 3.1 miles.

How does the C.A.P.E. Crusaders 2nd Annual VIRTUAL 5K Run & Walk Work?
The C.A.P.E. Crusaders 2nd Annual
VIRTUAL 5K Run & Walk is an event that participants will complete on their own.   Participants can select a preferred running or walking location and complete their 5K distance at the mall, in your gym, on a track, around your neighborhood, on your treadmill ~ where ever you want! Once you complete your 5K distance, post a completion post on our C.A.P.E. Crusaders 2nd Annual VIRTUAL 5K Run & Walk Facebook page. 

Is there an official Facebook Page?
Yes, there is! Go to our C.A.P.E. Crusaders
 2nd Annual VIRTUAL 5K Run & Walk Facebook Event Page at https://www.facebook.com/events/647837359491364so you can join.  It is a great way to connect with other participants as well as find motivation and support.

How will I be timed and where can I log my activity?
Fitness apps like Apple Health and wearables like Fitbit, Garmin, and Suunto watches are a great way to track your daily mileage. Officially, you can post your results in your account on runsignup.com/Chase5K. You can also post your time on our C.A.P.E. Crusaders
 2nd Annual VIRTUAL 5K Run & Walk Facebook Event Page, so we can celebrate together.  

Who gets a T-shirt and Medal?
Only runners who have successfully completed the registration and payment process by October 3rd  are guaranteed a free race t-shirt and medal. We plan to mail out the T-shirts the week of October 19th.

When do I receive my swag?
This year we will be sending everyone a participation medal in lieu of swag bags.  These will be going out the week of October 26th. 

 

Is there a designated hashtag for the C.A.P.E. Crusaders 2nd Annual VIRTUAL 5K Run & Walk?
There most definitely is! Use the #CapeCrusdaers5K AND #SuperHeroes4Autism hashtags on your social media posts. Feel free to also tag us @chaseacademy

Can I participate in the event with my dog?
Since our event is virtual, we would love pictures of your furry friends in capes running with you! 

Can I participate with a stroller?
Yes, just like your fur friends, we encourage pictures of your kids joining you!  

I will be out of town on race day and not able to participate. Can I get my money returned?
We appreciate your race registration, and since we are doing it virtually, you can get a group of friends together in different parts of the country and run! There are no refunds.

Will the race be held if it's raining?
The race is a "rain or shine" event. All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a raincoat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others, so please do not bring them.  

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
We have a strict NO REFUND & NO TRANSFER policy.
